Re: 97 gas club car battery
You can actually get the right size battery at an auto parts store. I have a Group 75 (size) in my 92 CC. I believe that is about the max height and width, but, your cart is a 97. The exact battery I have is a Deka 575MF which gives me 710 cranking amps @ 32 degrees F and 85 min reserve capacity. This is a regular car battery, not a cart battery. I am not sure if they changed the battery box size between 92 & 97, but I don't think so. Measure your battery box width length & height and compare to be sure before you buy.

Its a group 70 that goes in all club cars. Cranking amps really is not a big deal, this is a small motor to turn over.

It's not your battery if you put a new one in and you have nothing. Check your fuse. And start checking with a volt meter and see where your connection is breaking down. Might be a issue with starter/generator. FYI - I oversize my battery not for the cranking amps, but, for the reserve when its run at night and the lights are on more time then it is running to charge it.

If you cant hear the solenoid click, then you need to check all your electrical issues, but I agree, start with the fuse, then key switch, micro switch, solenoid etc

Re: 97 gas club car battery
Just an additional thought; Certain CC carts require the correct battery height in order for the choke / air filter assembly to correctly mate together.
