Check your cable adjustment coming out of the black box, if it wont quit shorten the cable to where it has more slack in it. Should fix the problem

Also try and back the idle screw out on the carb.

That won't kill the solenoid and ground the ignition, your first post was dead on!

I'm kind of thinking the linkage rod from the "go" pedal to the electrical component box might be binding,
or may have a slight bend in it from running over something just a bit too large?

When I adjusted my linkage rod 4 years ago per No No's instructions in the "stickies", I had the exact same symptoms!
It kept the cam in the black box from returning fully and not closing the engine kill micro.

Just something to check!

Hey guys thanks for the responses. Turned out to be build up of gunk under the black plastic cover over the carb where the accelerator cable goes that was preventing it from going all the way back. A little carb cleaner and we are back in business. Thanks again.

If that is the case I would check the lower micro switch in your black box, that switch grounds the ignition when you release the pedal and if holding the throttle open kept it running while pedal was released then micro isn't working or ground circuit has a break in it.
