Opinon on carb
I have an 85 Club Car with the KF82 flathead engine.
I have been away from my cart for about three weeks and before that didn't get to drive it very much over two previous weekends ovr four weeks. I ran it tonight for about 30 minutes and about 20 minutes into the ride the cart started to slow down and the only way I could get it to move was to hold the choke button. The issue did go away but my guess there is still junk in the carb or line. I'm runninng premium in the tank with seafoam in it and did pull the carb last spring and cleaned it. Im sure I didn't get all the varnish out but came close enough that it has been running prettyt well until tonight. I don't want to buy the can of gunk to soak the carb. So, If you have rebuilt small engine carbs before, would you rebuild it with new parts or replace the whole carb? Thanks, Jim |

Re: Opinon on carb
you really can,t rebuild it but you can make sure you do a very good job tearing it down and cleaning every bit of it.......sounds like its starving for fuel...........so cleaning it can,t hurt...................................

Re: Opinon on carb
You all have good points. i did trar it down and soaked everything in Carb cleaner overnight last spirng but figured these parts are old and could be replaced. I've seen rebuild kits that have a new float, needles, gaskets, etc. and figured that would help. If I do shut it down for the winter, I will drain the gas so I don't have junk sitting in the carb over the winter. I'm in Mo. so we have gas with ethanol. I have been runing premium in it since that doesn't have ethanol. The cart has been running fine all summer until last night when I had to hold the choke down. I'm planning on driving it a lot this weekend so maybe that will help after sitting so long. I was unable to use it today.

Re: Opinon on carb
If the cart works fine for about a mile then starts to slow down and the only way can get it to move is to press the choke buttin, does that mean carb or fuel filter? I cleaned the carb last spring. I would hate to think it's dirty again this soon with premium gas.

Re: Opinon on carb
it could mean gas tank, gas hoses fuel filters, fuel pump, carb, air filter or air intake system, low compression..............how did you clean carb? and keep in mind driving habits if your on paved or gravel or dirt roads the cart is sucking crap up which gets in the system......they were made for 36 holes of stop-n-go on grass use..................................
