I'm not sure I'll use you for an example again Matt! (at least... don't make me do it in a bad way!) |

Re: do I need new clutch buttons?
Matt & Stinger:
Done! Got new buttons and new weights installed. Thank you guys for the help! I was able to stop by the local CC shop and have them give me an "OK" on a couple of steps.... but, you're right about, "Once you get the clutch off, it's easy." I won't say it was easy for me, but the next time around will be. Learned a lot. Getting the clutch off without an impact wrench took a hell of a lot of effort. But...problem solved. It sounds and feels good. Thanks again. Cliff |

Re: do I need new clutch buttons?
I read that it is okay to lube the buttons and the slides the buttons ride in with graphite or moly-lube. Both are dry lubricants.

Re: do I need new clutch buttons?
Matt,
That's what one of the messages on "a different Club Car forum" indicated. But, they said, go very, very easy with the lube. Maybe you know the story behind this question: some clutch button kits come with three spring clips, some with only one. I asked when over at the local CC establishment and the service guy simply said, "they only sent one spring with the kits for awhile, then three, then back to one." He apparently didn't think it much mattered if you used one or three, but he didn't exactly say that. ??? It must not matter one way or the other? I was waaaay wrong on "getting by without installing new weights." Those babies were the main cause of all the chattering...really, really loose. All better now. Thanks, Cliff |
