1991 Club Car Rev Limiter
Hi all,
My 1991 Club Car seems to have a stuffed Rev limiter. Been reading over a few posts here and done a lot of testing and have pretty much ruled out everything except the limiter. Where's the best (cheapest) place to buy one from. The local CC rep wants $330. Or is there any way I can by-pass the rev limiter? I only use it on my flat block to check the mail etc so I'm not concerned about over revving the motor. Cheers, Baz. |

Re: 1991 Club Car Rev Limiter
The limiter is secured under the cylinder as you view from the foot well area looking back. It's ground wire is located to it's left as you look back at the engine block. 10mm bolt. Remove and insulate the wire and you have bypassed the limiter. If you still have the transaxle governor enabled you will still have a form of defence against over revving but be careful not to go crazy or you might just kill the motor.

Re: 1991 Club Car Rev Limiter
i have to agree a 91 should have a KF-82 in it......they switched to the fe-290 in 92 and if it is a KF-82 the limitor if it has one will be mounted on top of the coil which is bolted to the flywheel cover rear side..........if it has one........some don,t have a limitor............................

Re: 1991 Club Car Rev Limiter
The engine is a KF82. The limiter is bolted to the coil. 1984 -1989 had the coil and limiter enclosed in the same housing.
Can the limiter be bypassed ? All I have been able to find so so far is bypassing the limiter on a 1992 engine. ie removing the earth. cheers. |

Re: 1991 Club Car Rev Limiter
Cheers Shadowman,
As another (cheaper) option, could I get a combined coil/rpm limiter ($175) off a 84-89 motor and plug it into the wiring harness and just ditch the seperate coil and RPM limiter off the 90-91 motor ? Has anyone tried this. From what research I have done they replaced the combined coil/rpm unit with two seperate units but the wiring remained the same. Can anyone confirm this ? Cheers. |
