Controller or Motor
I just got a 99 club car series 48v with 6x8v batteries that seem in good condition and are around 15-18 months old. Can go pretty much all day up an down hills on one charge. The cart has 23" tires an runs about 20 on flat ground, BUT attacking the hills it falls on it face. It makes it up just too slow. It has a back seat an will be used pretty often (2 kids). My question is what do u think the best setup/options for me would be. I have about 400-450 cash to work with. Over all I do think I would want to go a little fast on flat ground, but have to get this thing going up hills a little better that its current form. It already has the 4g wires in it and looks like the stock controller. Let me konw that will make the most differenct going up the hills. Thanks for your time.

Re: Controller or Motor
Howdy D HD, The motor needs to access more amperage to produce more torque for the hills. You need a bigger controller and solenoid and cables and F&R... those are all the parts the 'more amperage' has to run through on it's way to the motor. This won't improve speed. IN a series cart more voltage will increase speed. If you have enough torque taller tires or higher gears will improve speed. Ideally, you increase both amps and volts for best results...

Re: Controller or Motor
OK, so thanks to Scottyb I have a alltrax 500 controller and all the fixing on the way... NOW I think I have talked myself into buying a new motor as well. Like the OP says I needed more torque because of the hills in the hood we live in. Im already running 19-20 on flat ground (10 up hill) because of the 23" tall tires. heres the question, what motor will get me around 24mph flat ground and give me even more torque than the controller is already going to give me? love to hear the ideas. i guess im looking for a torque and speed motor?
