Thank you very much. Does it look doable....absolutely. Can I do it on my own without ScottyBs kit....that is iffy. THis would be the difficult thing to covnert for me. I can make the bracket to mount the controller and solenoid that isnt a big deal.

1. Maybe, but I've only heard of one successful retrofit of an ITS throttle system and that was in an industrial cart. IIRC, it was a XI-875.

2. I suspect you are using the term "wiring harness" collectively for both control wiring (small wires to switches) and high-current cables (heavy cables).

An ITS throttle type controller was never installed at the factory in a Marathon, so I doubt is a control wiring harness exists for it. Make your own and if you want to be neat, use something like this: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Gardner-B...8C10/205588197

The controller probably wont be in the same location as a factory installed one, so the high-current cables will probably have to be made to the proper lengths.

------------

FWIW: If I was going to convert a resistor cart to a controller cart and didn't have the money to do it right, I'd use a Curtis 1204 or similar controller with a 0-5K throttle input and modify the existing wiper arm throttle system with 1K resistors to make it a five speed cart. (See attached picture.)

I don't remember who posted the picture, but it was posted on this forum on or about 7/6/2013 according to the original file download date.

Also, it looks like the setup in the picture is for a 5k-0 throttle rather than a 0-5K throttle, but the concept is the same, just which wire goes where is different.

The solenoid and controller can be mounted anywhere they will fit, but the Curtis 1206 (stock 1996 series controller) does need a heatsink.

Locating the pedal box in a workable location would take some doing and then fabricating a mechanical linkage would be a bear.

it would be easier for you to just get the controller and resistors

So use my FNR I already have. What is the board called the solenoid is mounted to? I can add the resistors to that and use the same throttle linkage. DO I need the solenoid he has if I go the route as in the above pictures? And its just connecting cables to the controller if I get that from him..

you will need a restorer and a diode on solenoid that is mounted on your cart
his controller will not work in this set up
here is front of controller

What type of controller do I need to look for to accomplish the setup you have on your 70s model cart?

Looks like the '70 only has 3 speeds, but with 5 studs you ought to be able to get 4-speeds like the resistor carts had (Three coils and direct)

I don't know how many studs are on the board in the picture I posted because of the cable blocking the view. Maybe it is from a cart with four resistor coils instead of three.
