forward/reverse moves about a foot then quits
1996 txt dcs 9 pin in forward position when we push the pedal it starts to move forward then stops put it in reverse does the same then the beeper starts and wont stop even when the key is in the off position have to unplug the reed switch to make the beeping stop. we have replaced the roller lever spade connector because it was broke when we got it we have replaced the solenoid and the reed switch. Any Ideas?

Does the solenoid click when you push the pedal?
----------- Doesn't the beeper stop when you flip the Run/Tow switch to Tow? |

Re: forward/reverse moves about a foot then quits
Getting the solenoid to click is a two step process.
1. With Run/Tow in Run, F/R in either F or R and Keyswitch ON, you should have battery pack voltage on the solenoid's small terminal with three wires on it. IF not, trace it back to the reed switch using attached schematic. 2. If you do have pack voltage on the small terminal with three wires, check for pack voltage on Pins 6, 7, 9 & 10 in the 10-pin connector on top of controller. If you have it on those pins, press the pedal and you should have pack voltage on Pin-5. If you do, the voltage on Pin-7 ought to drop to zero and solenoid ought to click. |

Re: forward/reverse moves about a foot then quits
Ok we followed your instructions and we do have pack voltage on the small terminal with three wires, there is pack voltage on pins 6,7,9,& 10. there is pack voltage on pin 5 when the pedal is pushed, however, the 7 pin remains at pack voltage when the pedal is pushed it does not drop to zero, solenoid does not click.

Re: forward/reverse moves about a foot then quits
If the voltage at Pin-7 does not go away when there is voltage on Pin-5, the controller isn't doing what it is being told to do, so the controller is bad.
The stock DCS controller (Curtis 1206SX) was a failed design (No under-voltage protection), so replace it with an aftermarket controller. An Alltrax DCX or XCT controller will up the top speed into the low 20's at 36V on stock height (18") tires. |
