Default EZGO PCX-956 limo rebuild, need any info available

I recently aquired an EZGO 95 PCX-956 and want to totally refurbish and upgrade the cart. It ran when I first got it, although the F/R switch was touchy. Due to some issues, it has sat at camp for 2 years and is not inoperable. I could use any ideas or suggestions on where to start. I'd like to lift it and change out the motor to give it a bit more umph as it was extremely sluggish, especially uphill. I believe the max speed on the stock equipment is 6-8MPH.

I own one of these, I gave it to a friend and he complained it was slow so we put a 400 Alltrax control and 48v in it. Better, especially on the hills. He put a mild lift and front brakes on it. All custom work.

Ok ScottyB, if I can infer what your saying, I shouldn't be looking for anything in a kit or packaged form, everything I hope to do to this thing will be custom?

I just took it as that guy just did a custom job. I think the front and rear I are similar to other carts just HD?

Alright, so how do I determine the type of lift kit to use on this beast?

The only options I see are for either the Marathon or TXT. Can't find any information on whether either or neither will work.

Can't help with how to lift it, but this may help you with other upgrades.

These are industrial carts there are no bolt on lift kits available.
In my experience ( I own a 952 & 956) they do not do well off the paved surfaces.

I got one these shuttles last fall and it too was getting 6-7 mph tops. Spec calls for 12 mph so something is definitely wrong with your shuttle as there was with mine. I have a couple of posts out there about it and got some real good info from the experts. Understand, that 12 mph is if everything is like it was new and while operating with perfect conditions (perfect batts, no hills, smooth pavement, etc.). In reality, it's probably more likely you'll be getting no better than 10 mph. I believe those shuttles are 1600 pounds without people on them. That's a lot for 36 volts.

That being said, I certainly didn't expect my shuttle to be a speed burner but I wanted more than 10 mph too. Rather than spending a ton of time finding out what was wrong with my shuttle, to get it from 6-7 mph back to 10 mph or so, I just went ahead and converted to 48 volts. The results were better than I expected. The shuttle now goes 15 -16 mph and, better, it has a TON of torque. It doesn't matter how many people are on it. It doesn't lose speed / torque. Note that I didn't upgrade the motor which is still stock.

Unfortunately, this conversion doesn't come cheap but it is something to think about.
