Default Input shaft Removal

2005 EZ GO TXT Series cart 36 volts.

Input shaft leaking at bearing seal

Can the Input shaft on my 2005 ez go txt series cart with Dana differential be removed without droping the axel and removing the entire gear set (intermediate and limited slip gears). I have a slight leak somewhere on the sealed bearing in the input gear. The Input gear is fitted tight In the housing and cannot be pulled by hand. I do not want to damage splined input shaft. Banging on the transfer case at the opposite side does not knock it loose.

Any suggestions?

I carefully clamp a vise grip on the shaft and tap the vise grip with a soft hammer. they always come out easily.

AS mentioned, you can go in from the top and only have to remove the motor to pull the input gear assembly.

After removing C-Clip, I wrapped a piece of an old leather belt around the splines to protect them, clamped on some vice grips, tapped a few times with a small hammer and it came out.

Other than removing the motor, the most difficult part for me was getting the C-clip back in when I reinstalled the input gear assembly.
