I have lifted club car precedent 48v with high speed motor and I like the speed but doesn't have torque off road. I'm afraid of burning the motor as well. Should I get the mad jax torque controller kit or different motor and controller? I like the speed but also like going slow off road.

As you found out high speed motors don't make a lot of torque and high torque motors don't make a lot of speed. You got to pick one or compromise on both. Alltrax has a switch on the fly system where you can present torque and speed modes but, the motors can only do so much.

That is exactly what happened to my first cart! My goal is to avoid a repeat.

I know everybody wants their cart to go fast but, I see something here over and over. Example, Cart is running fine with good speed and owner can't leave it alone, says I just want 1 or 2 more mph out of it and I'll be happy... tweaks settings, tries a few different field maps ..... then bang, owner posts well I guess I need a new motor.
Honestly guys, these cart motors can only do so much. If you are constantly asking them for their guts they are gonna puke. My advice is find the max and operate below it, watch the operating temperature especially on these 100º days. Have fun and be safe

Chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. I found that out during my mods. All is well now but I ended up first going to Lithium batteries. Then the Moric controller started to fail. I went to Alltrax controller and the motor overheated. I went to D&D motor and now all is good!

I have an Admiral D2 motor on order from ScottyB. Since I have the old motor off now, is there any maintenance I should do?
What should I do with the old motor? Is it worth anything?

If it has the "death smell" its pretty much worthless
