The XCT keeps the filter capacitors in the controller charged via J1 Pin-5, which is connected directly to the battery side large terminal on the solenoid. The pre-charge resistor still exists, but it is now inside the XCT controller rather than an an external component.

As for the Diode now between the large terminals on the solenoid. If the solenoid deactivated while the motor was producing regen current, the regen voltage would go shy high and could exceed the XCT's max allowable voltage. The diode passes enough regen current to the battery to keep the regen voltage produced by the motor within safe limits whether the solenoid contacts are open or closed.

During normal operation the solenoid stays activated when in a regen mode, but if the key is turned off, or F/R changed while moving, the solenoid can drop out, plus there are some more conditions that can happen without a human being involved.

Note: The diode is required only for EZGO applications.

Thank you JohnnieB. When you get a chance, I sent you a private message about your motor and speed sensor connector.

Davewil: I have a friend with a local Yamaha shop that does custom aluminum bodies, golf cart ambulances and other cart stretches. All aluminum work. I have free reign to the drops and scraps and there is lots of that. Not to mention access to a programmable break and shear.

Nice setup. 40ah cells too small. How many you installed/used? Is this an ad for your business?

Hi cgtech,
No ads for business. I have done 7 lithium upgrades for fellow members at my club. I just have access to aluminum and fabricating tools which makes my lithium upgrades cleaner.
