2005 EZGO PDS Speed issue
I've got an 05 EZGO PDS. New Batteries with 4 ga wiring. Hit the pedal and runs like crazy until it gets up to speed, then it slows way down and gives me the beep code (1-3) for a speed sensor.
Am I safe to assume the beep code and symptoms are accurate and I need a new speed sensor? Will the magnet be enough or do I replace the whole thing? |

Re: 2005 EZGO PDS Speed issue
It normally isnt the magnet but the sensor itself. Though I would check continuity of those wires before anything else. I would also verify power on the speed sensor pins of the control. There should be 11~15V on pin 3 to ground and about 5V on pin 2.
http://s985.photobucket.com/user/wiz...179a1.jpg.html Normally this fault will start after driving only a few feet, it sounds like your going a bit further than that? I would think it's more of an intermittent issue if that is the case. Try pushing the cart by hand to see if the roll-off feature kicks in, this is normally a good indicator as to weather or not the controller is seeing input from the sensor. |

5 volts on pin 2 and 14 volts on pin 3. Didn't have much room to push it right now but for about 5 feet, no beeps. I guess I hope its the sensor. I'll try to get it off and see what i can make of it.

If this is good then its defiantly the speed sensor since the roll off didn't active while you were pushing it. You should only need a couple of wheel revolutions before it kicks in. A repayment sensor is fairly cheap compared to a new control at least, I'd inspect the magnet for cracks while the sensor is off anyway. I had one giving me this fault and I took the sensor off planning to replace it only to find there wasn't even a magnet installed... |

Re: 2005 EZGO PDS Speed issue
I finally took the speed sensor off and found the magnet was crumbled and the screw holding the plate over the magnet was broke off. Looks bad, what now?

Re: 2005 EZGO PDS Speed issue
lol, done that but i guess i was mostly concerned with the screw being broke off (I knew what I meant). Is there something I can screw up by drilling the screw out? I don't suppose it will stay put without the screw.

Re: 2005 EZGO PDS Speed issue
If you are VERY careful I suppose you could drill and tap it..... Maybe use an EZOUT on it?
Personally I have never had that happen to me but if it did, I would likely order an Alltrax controller that doesn't care about the speed sensor, put the old sensor back in to seal the hole and cut off the wire...... |
