electric to gas
I'm finding out that my 91 marathon is ready for new bateries, everything else is original and the battery rack is rusted out and falling apart. My question is for the price of new batteries, new wires, and building a rack to hold them ( I'm figuring about $ 800 ) would I be farther ahead to conver it over to a side shaft 4 stroke before it's time to start replacing all the other electrical components, and if it is how do I keep reverse?

and with all the other mods required to convert......to do it right, you will cross the $800 mark without a doubt. |

Re: electric to gas
This subject pops up every now and then. I think the usual suggestion is to sell your cart as is and look for a used gas cart. There is info available on the internet. Do a Yahoo search for "Converting an electric golf cart to gas" and you will get lots of hits. There are some videos listed on Youtube as well. Re: electric to gas
Darn few of these conversions become useful carts. Since a rear end change is needed for the best operation most people agree selling the electric cart project and buying a gas cart project is the way to go. It is both financially and feasibly a better option.

Re: electric to gas
Sell the cart and buy a gas one if you want gas. They are not easy to convert.

Re: electric to gas
Sparky to gas conversion: can it be done? YES. Is it a time consuming PITA? For sure. Is it cost effective vs buying a gas cart, or fixing the current system? Never seen one that was. All depends on how stubborn you are, and if troubles/hassle is your idea of a good time. I have done it, and there are plenty of kinks to work out unless you have a donor gas cart for parts (then why do the conversion).
