Controller Over-Motor Mounting Bracket
I know I have seen pics of a couple of carts where people have fabricated a mount for their AllTrax controllers that was behind the seat, over the motor. For the life of me, I cannot find them via search. I am wondering if I can follow the pictures and try to fabricate something to mount the controller out of the current location, in case I need that space for batteries in the future.
Does anyone recall those posts, or have a link? |

Re: Controller Over-Motor Mounting Bracket
My 99 TXT series FLAME cart had 8/6v under the seat. I mounted the Alltrax SPM inverted behind the seat and above the axles as you suggest. There is one cross member there already so I added in another 1.5 angle iron at the proper spacing to mount the control and solenoid. See pics and thanks for asking

Re: Controller Over-Motor Mounting Bracket
That was a PIA. The F&R shaft had to be shortened and the linkage lengthened when the F&R was moved forward.
I was documenting it to try to show how 8/6v would fit nicely in a series TXT. I spent a day making it work nice. But not really a DIYer type modification. Later I found how nice 6/8v worked and never looked favorably upon 8/6v batteries again. A friend has owned this cart for many years now without trouble |

Re: Controller Over-Motor Mounting Bracket
I have always switched to the "switching contactor" setup when installing 8 batteries in a Txt. I wouldn't even quote that job keeping a mechanical f&r in a Txt in that situation.

Re: Controller Over-Motor Mounting Bracket
With the new Alltrax XCT500 I am going to be installing into my 99 TXT, either over the motor or back into the original position, do I need some kind of environmental protection cover? The reason I ask is that when I removed the existing controller and heat sink, there was 4" of dirt, rocks, and general goop piled up behind it, but inside the cover was pristine. If I mount the Alltrax over the motor, I'm wondering how much gunk I'm going to be splashing up into the controller / fan, and if that is something I need to be concerned with. If I leave it in front of the mud guard where it currently resides, what kind of dirt/gunk damage will I be doing to it?
What is everyone else doing to protect their investment in the Alltrax controllers? |

Re: Controller Over-Motor Mounting Bracket
I have stuffed foam (like seat cushion foam) on the fender liner, between the body. Keeps splatter out of controller area well.
