ScottyB suggested just wire a switch to feed the inverter as the light switch
Turn on the inverter, lights come on .
Simple

Is there someplace at the controller where the 48 volts is provided when the key switch is on? TXT, PDS converted to 48 volts. I am trying to avoid running wire all the way to the key switch to get the 48 volts going to my cheap reducer.

Finally got around to doing the install. Replaced factory 2 position key switch with a 3 position switch to also control the lights (http://www.ebay.com/itm/161990125105...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT). Wired in my ScottyB DVM and installed a cheap 48v to 12v 4 wire reducer.

I wasted about 3 hours trying to over complicate the install using a relay.

Scrapped the relay and kept it simple as pretty much everybody had suggested. Took less than an hour to complete. Ran one black wire from the battery pack negative to the key switch area and tied into DVM and reducer negative. Wired positive DVM to on position of key switch. Wired positive on reducer to light position on key switch. Installed reducer in console area behind the cup holders.
