Re: EZGO PDS new to me, PO fried the controller while charging
Can anyone tell me which way is run and which way is tow and which is run? I'm a little confused by the diagrams I saw and I don't want to fry a brand new controller.

Saw a post from rib33024 that says tow points toward the orange and red so I think I got my question answered with further searching.

You can check with a VOM or just leave it unplugged from the controller until you are ready to try things out. If you plug it in and things light up, it was in Run mode. If not, it was in Tow.

Ok, great thank you for the responses, I'll test it and leave it unplugged until I'm ready to do my initial startup.

It runs! Haven't had the nerve to hook the charger up yet, that's how the previous owner fried his controller so I am going to put it in the yard and then put it on the charger tonight or tomorrow just in case of BOOM! But I bet it's fine.

Put in temporary battery cables to get it running, going to make 2 gauge tonight and this weekend and bolt the body and rear seat back on.

Your charger wires appear to be on the correct posts so you should be good if the charger is okay. Just for grins I think I would flip it to tow before you plug it in.

Re: EZGO PDS new to me, PO fried the controller while charging
Or you could be really paranoid and disconnect the pack + or -, which will ensure charger and pack are happy together, but eventually, you're gonna have to...
EDIT: Pack and controller are already happy together. As long as you can charge the pack without issue, you'll have a happy "family" of charger, pack, and controller. |

Re: EZGO PDS new to me, PO fried the controller while charging
I'll definitely put it in tow and hold my breath and whatever else.
I charged these batteries in the DCS cart they got robbed from so I know they are a full pack right now. Still in break in period so tonight I'll run it around the block and then put it on the charger with a fire extinguisher near by. Thanks for all the help and suggestions I'll post back some pictures once I have everything put back together. Anyone know what color that body is? I need a little touch up paint on the back and side. |
