OK, found a picture and this is the reed switch. Can I bypass this? I know no parts available this weekend in rural Arkansas - -- Will the cart still charge if I do? I know it will run.
That is the reed switch, and no need to replace it. Bypass it and roll on, just remember it will move when the charger is plugged in now.

Thanks to everyone who contributed... Problem solved, --- er, bypassed... Didn't even consider that if the wires got hot enough to burn at F&R they might have gotten warm somewhere else too...

Probably 2 separate problems that had nothing to do with each other. Blown reed switches are common.

the reed switch is a safety so the micro switch wont be energized while charging, I hooked the micro switch directly to the + on the battery when I had the same problem as you. and its been working ever since, I just have to remember to turn the key off before charging

I have same and here is my wiring..
s1- right side of switch
s2- left side
a2-top
ground -bottom
on 3 post controller ground is center post of controller.
