F/R Switch backwards
Hoping someone here can help me. I'm helping out a buddy with his 83 (Serial number says it's an 83) Club Car DS electric. It has a series of solenoids and coils. The F/R switch was bad so I installed a new one. Cart works great now however, the switch is backwards. When I shift it to forward and step on the pedal the cart goes reverse likewise when I shift it to reverse it goes forward. Just trying to figure out if I can simply switch 2 wires to the motor or the F/R switch. I've looked at wiring diagrams but they don't really help me. I'm a gas cart guy so these sparky's are foreign to me.
The wiring diagrams show me how to wire it but don't really tell me what each wire controls. I assume that I could triple check each wire with the diagram an see if anything is backwards but I was hoping to just switch 2 wires and simply reverse the polarity on the motor. Is this possible? I don't want to burn anything up. |

Re: F/R Switch backwards
Thanks Sergio. That looks exactly like the switch.
So if I switch the 2 swivel post wires (#5 wire with the wire to A-1) will it reverse the switch? If that's not the problem could it fry anything? |

Re: F/R Switch backwards
Are You using reduced speed for reverse?
If so, is the forward speed currently faster than reverse? If You are using less than 36v for reverse, switching the 2 center cables will cause both the direction and the speed at that direction to change. |

Re: F/R Switch backwards
Nope. I hooked both bottom terminals on the switch to 36 volts. So I have 36v in both directions.

Re: F/R Switch backwards
If both bottom terminals have 36v then most likely just the 2 center swivel post cables need to be reversed to correct the issue.

Re: F/R Switch backwards
It worked perfect Sergio. Thanks again. I kinda thought that was how i should fix it, i was just a little concerned that i might fry something. So i needed someone else to reinforce it.
