Power Wise charger Problem
My charger quit working so I removed the cover to start checking it. I have continuity from diodes to mounting plate and continuity between the wire going to the fuse and all metal surfaces. Any ideas? Thank you.

Re: Power Wise charger Problem
Disconnect the 2 wires at the relay and hook them together-plug it into the cart- is it charging?
If yes-bad board You didn't state as to whether or not the charger turned on |

Re: Power Wise charger Problem
With my charger being 20+ years old, I decided to replace it rather than putting money into a repair. Just out of curiosity, I still plan to determine the problems with the Power Wise charger.

Chargers rarely if ever go completely bad.
Id buy your old charger if you lived close. |

Re: Power Wise charger Problem
On the plug that goes into your buggy, on one side there is a connector that measures pack voltage. It could be dirty or misaligned. If you unplug your charger from the wall, does the relay inside the charger click when you plug it into the cart? If not, clean the charger plug and cart outlet. You may need to bend the connector, to see if it is making a good connection.

Re: Power Wise charger Problem
an easy means to rule out the little board inside is to take it apart, jumper the two wires that go to the relay to bypass it, and measure voltage output. if it works then, bad board. if it outputs like 18V or something, replace capacitor. if it makes loud noises and puts out zero volts, even with a replacement capacitor, the transformer is likely shot. that last symptom seems very rare, but we got stacks of them that are like that due to fleets using them during a thunderstorm

Re: Power Wise charger Problem
You are NOT supposed to have continuity from diode to mounting plate. There are some good you tube videos on this.
