That bearing ought to be a sealed type since the oil has to climb a long way to get to it.
It's also withing the magnetic fields generated by the motor, so it ought to be a hybrid (Ceramic balls with steel races) type. Eddy currents occur in the regular steel ball and race bearings when they are running in a magnetic field, eroding the contact surfaces and reducing bearing life. |
