Default charging 5 batteries instead of 6?

I have a 85 club car with 1 dead battery. I took the dead battery out of the loop and want to charge the other 5. So I have 5 6volt batteries , 30 volts instead of 36 volts. Will my 36 volt charger charge the 5 without damage or should I wait and get another battery befor I use the cart? It runs on 5 batteries.

tks

Your charger wont know that you took out a battery. It will still try to charge the pack to 36-volts. You have to monitor the the pack. And know when to turn off. Be carefull.

What are you really trying to do? Make the cart run with 5 batteries? I really don't understand why you need to charge just 5 batteries? Put that bad battery back in and then charge the pack, this will help eliminate the possibility of an explosion. Charging 5 batteries instead of 6 has disaster written all over it...

I wouldn't recommend it, and no one else should either. The risk of injury is too high. I repeat as above - "NO - NO - NO"...

Thumbs up Re: charging 5 batteries instead of 6?

Thanks for the help. I wasn't sure but thought it would overcharge the 5 other batteries and go boom. I manage a mini storage with 4 acers of storage units and being an "older guy" its starting to take its toll. I just replaced one battery and thought it was the ony one. The cart was here and the other manager hooked up a new battery backwards and i was hoping for no other damage. Live and learn as always.

Well - That is different than charging 5 batteries. You had 6 in the pack?, but one was reverse polarity? Have you checked it with a voltmeter?
