Clutch cover removal
So I have done much searching and was unable to come up with a difinitive answer, to probably an easy question. How do you lock the clutch from spinning to reef on the cover bolt. I've seen many guys write that they use a 2x4 but I'm not understanding how? I've used one wedged from the top but it doesn't offer enough and wants to spin. I saw someone post something about a rubber door stop. If that's the ticket let me know? I have an 85 G1, thanks

Impact? Strap wrench? I don't know about 2x4, whatever you do never use a tool on the sheaves (where the belts run). The best way is take the fan cover off the engine and use a crowbar or huge screwdriver. Some like to fill the cylinder with rope.

Do you have a small pipe wrench? If so, there are like four or six grooves cut on the inside of the clutch. Open the pipe wrench all the way up and lock your wrench on two of the teeth. Hold and turn your nut. Works great. If no wrench, but you have a clamp - clamp the clutch carefully, do not scratch clutch, turn it till the clamp is jammed. Loosen nut.
