Default EZGO just creeps, then OK? What's happening?

2001 cart has been running strong, good batteries less than 3 years old. I stopped to talk with a friend and then when I then tried to cross a 6 lane street the cart barely moved. I wasn't sure if I was going to make it across the busy street. It acted as thought the batteries were almost dead. Once I stopped, turned it off and then back on everything was fine and normal. What happened?

It sounds like your cart is going into "limp" mode. This is pretty common for lifted carts running at slow speeds. It is actually a built in protection for the controller... if the controller gets hot it greatly reduces the power to prevent a meltdown. I have found that this is generally a sign of a controller getting weak. We have rebuilts or Alltrax if that turns out to be the case.

Can you give a little more detail about your cart (lifted?) and did you possibly have your foot slightly on the throttle while you were sitting there talking?

Cart is not lifted. I easily could have had my foot on the pedal applying minimal pressure for a minute or two. Then when I tried to accelerate it was like I was in a foot of thick mud struggling to go forward. Of course this only happens when you are crossing a six lane street where crazy California drivers see how fast they can go in a 45 MPH zone. Thanks for your response.
