Default TXT motor problem

I have a TXT golf cart, my son said the cart started to "spasm" I took cart for a ride and at start up the cart nearly popped a wheelie and then stood motionless, I heard a slight motor or purring type sound in forward and no sound in reverse accompanied by a electric burning smell. Tried to push vehicle into garage with much diffficulty then had son push with 4 wheeler all of a sudden it started to move freely as though it had been stuck in gear before. All help appreciated, if it's the motor or something attached to it, what is the best way to access? I am a complete novice with carts, but pretty good with cars amd m/c's.
Thanks Again

That chart is for Club Cars. ...

Anyway, TXT huh? Is the directional selector a toggle on the dash? Or a lever below the seat cushion? If lever do you have a run/tow toggle switch on the controller cover under the seat?
Do you know what year cart?
Has the cart been driven thru water prior to problem?

I have a lever under the switch, it looks like the DCS forward/reverse switch, it has the run/tow switch(i thought it said maintenance?)
Can't say for sure about water damage, the kids use it most of the time.
I also went back today and tried again, and as i shifted from forward to reverse I could hear a small \relay/solenoid sound but still no movement.
I'll have to find some records or maybe serial number for positive ID.
Thnaks

IN a DCS cart you are describing controller failure..... it's a pretty common thing if you have run low on voltage at all.

Remove the controller cover and give the Controller the smell test. IF you smell burnt electrical (as you said in the previous post) then it is definitely time to upgrade/replace the controller.
