Default Linkage Removal, '80 Marathon

I have my frame stripped all the way, ready for sandblasting and powdercoat, except for this one darn linkage. It's part of the accelerator assembly, I'm not 100% sure what it even does though. I don't see any clips or nuts holding it on, has anyone dealt with this style before? Don't know if the cap is just pressed on and I need to pull with a great deal of force, just trying not to break anything if possible. I downloaded the manual for an '85, but apparently the designed changed by then. Can anyone tell me what this does exactly?

Well after some research I have learned that this is how the hill brake is kicked off when the gas pedal is pressed. The question remains, however, as to how I get the thing off the frame.....

Loosen up the two set screws on the block and it will slide out.

I had tried that before, and the shaft had up and down play, but still wouldn't come out. After examining everything again I gripped it with a vice grips and hit them, and it finally came loose. It is press fit into the upper bushing. One step closer to paint!
