Default installed new cable set, no speed increase, may have broken F/R switch...

i tried a search and didnt really find anything helpful so, i have a 2001 48v DS and installed a new 4ga cable kit this morning, this cart is stock otherwise...

the cart was doing 11-12mph yesterday before the swap and is still doing 11-12 after the swap. this is my first build so i am hoping i didnt miss something or do something wrong, but it seemed simple at the time, remove orange cable, replace with new orange cable..etc....

also, while trying to remove the F/R switch the handle screw was stripped out and i incidentally turned the handle all the way around, now the switch isnt "tight" enough to switch from F to R with the handle alone, i have to flip up the seat and do it myself, is there a way to tighten this back up? the center of the switch just spins when the handle is used.

any help is appreciated.

Changing cables will not increase speed.

Your best bet is the motor. I have the same cart you do. It was at 12 mph stock. I bought the bandit motor replacement from plum quick. $285 to my door plus I still have my old working motor. May put it on eBay and see what I can get. 20 minutes to change it out. Now the cart does 19.6 mph and has a lot more torque. Best upgrade for the money in my opinion.

Thanks guys, after posting i did find where the torque should increase a bit but the speed wont, and after driving again i do notice a difference in take off.

Any help on the switch? Can i fix it? Or am i going to have to buy a new one for $90+?

Thanks
