Re: 1999 EZGO/2005 Western dead
I recommend taking the motor to a motor shop if the commutator needs turning. You have to remove and disassemble it to see what it needs. You can replace brushes yourself. Other repairs require special equipment to do it right.

It's now back to doing nothing, it just goes click. When I pulled the cover off the controller everything looks brand new under there, the controller is a Curtis PMC... What is the ITS and how do I check that thing? |

Re: 1999 EZGO/2005 Western dead
Had not had anytime to mess with the cart until this weekend, well I got it figured out.
What this rookie did wrong was turn a 42v cart into a 48v cart without changing the controller. So thie controller was protecting itself by shutting down.. I figured I'd call Curtis controllers and tell them what was going on. They were extremely nice and explained to me that the Stock 36v PDS controller will handle 42v but will not handle 48v, he told me to disconnect one of the batteries and see if it worked, and sure enough it worked. I just ordered my new controller and solenoid from Scotty B. |

Re: 1999 EZGO/2005 Western dead
Well I got the new controller and new solenoid installed a while back, cart ran great just under 30mph with stock wheels, that's western stock. Batteries are less than six months old.
Well yesterday I got in the cart and it did not want to move, but all of a sudden it jerks to full speed then slows to almost to nothing. It does this continuously. I put it on the jack stands and put the meter on the 48v pack everything checked out fine 51.8v. I even tested it while pushing the accelerator, the voltage dropped to just under 50v. I did notice the light on the controller was flashing green and then turned red while pressing the accelerator? I've checked all the battery connection and the connections on the motor. Anyone know what's going on? This cart has a new alltrax xct500PDS controller and a 400 super solenoid. |
