Re: Highest charged voltage of new 48 volt batteries
Yes but on all the charts the difference between 100% and 90% charged is only 0.5v. The difference between 50% charged and 40% charged is only 0.58v. This threshold is of some importance as you know. If 0.4v is inconsequential what is the point of the chart?

Re: Highest charged voltage of new 48 volt batteries
The at-rest voltage for 100% SoC varies between brands of batteries. The chart Rib posted is for US Battery batteries, the two kernal posted are for Trojan batteries. The at-rest voltage at 100% SoC for Exide batteries falls between the charts posted.
Also, before they obtain their rated storage capacity, new batteries tend to have a higher at-rest voltage for 100% SoC. The charts are averages of empirical data from batteries that have been properly broken in. In addition, different brand batteries require different charge profiles, which is why many of the more modern chargers have user selectable charge profiles. For example, the current production of DPI Accusense chargers, which is the best charger available for the money and have four user selectable charge modes, US Battery, Trojan, Exide and Crown. |
