Re: My 98 TXT project begins !!!
Tex.....Did that beer in the 3rd pic come with the updated wiring? Or was that a special "side order" during the build??

Re: My 98 TXT project "finished" !
After a few delays, it's "finished" .... (I know it never really is finished)
We do have a top "cover" coming to match the gray in the seat covers. But I/we are very happy with the results !! A couple of last minute adds, were the real wood steering wheel and dash panels. (co-pilot "sugestions") So here is "Birdie", wife named her because of the color and "she is a stroke better than par".... Runs a steady 24 mph on what little level ground we have around here, and handles the hills with minimal slow down. Best of all is the wife's statement, "It hauls ***, and passes the neighbors $8K cart with ease" !!! Many Thanks to all the community here, over the years, I have "resto-mod-ed" many cars and motorcycles, but I have to say that I, and my "drop by for a beer buddies" have had the most fun of any project !!!! And yes, the addiction continues..... |

Re: My 98 TXT project begins !!!
That's a great looking cart. My 98 TXT is about 2 months behind yours. Mine will look a little smaller, though, with 20" tires and 3" lift. Right now, it is a frame and a stack of parts.
Great looking paint job. |

Looks great!
Where did you get the chrome rockers? How did you clean up and restore the black plastic pieces like the dash and floor? |

Re: My 98 TXT project begins !!!
Ag,
The "chrome" is actually polished stainless steel.. So much of the black plastic pieces were in bad shape, the "kit" was cheaper than getting replacements for the bad parts.. they are available as piece parts here is were I got them (A Site Sponsor) https://diygolfcart.com/stainless-st...essories/ezgo/ During the teardown, I soaked down EVERYTHING in 50/50 Simple Green. and went at it with a pressure washer. That cleaned it all up fine, but did leave it kind off dull and grey.... so I tried what I have used on my bikes for years to restore the plastics. it will last a year or so before redo is needed. There is a pic below. On things like the "bag boot" and spike guards (I deleted them on this project), I use only Duplicolor spray bedliner over their Adhesion Promoter. (I didn't have very good results with it on the floor material)About 3 VERY light coats with an hour drying time between will give you a new, long lasting finish. Hope this helps !! |
