2008 36v cart- upgrade
got a 2008 cart with a lift and it is slow. new 36v batteries.
What is the best option to get more speed without redoing everything and spending a fortune. can i just replace to a plumquick motor or should we look for a controller anything esle i need to upgrade- cables, solenoid, etc? |

Re: 2008 36v cart- upgrade
jeffro.....seeing as how your cart is lifted....the drive system (controller, solenoid, f&r, and cables) are being taxed beyond its original ......
now....is your cart a SERIES cart or a SEPEX drive? ONE solution, while upgrading the drive system would be to jump to 48v, which will give you 33% more speed and torque.....which will also mean you would need a new charger as well. |

Re: 2008 36v cart- upgrade
A guy walked into a bar and said "I want my lifted, stock (overworked) golf cart to go faster & work better, and I need it to be free if possible"... I think I have heard this joke before, but I'll listen again. You are gonna have to get ready to spend some money. First thing to do is check your batteries health, because the upgrades you will be buying (now, or later when the stock stuff dies) won't be worth a thing with garbage batteries.

What size tires do you have? Lifted doesn't always mean they aren't stock.

Re: 2008 36v cart- upgrade
ok- good set of us1800 batteries -less than year old (36v)
tire size is 23 x 10x 14 cart is a lever f-R and no tow switch -this is my mother-in laws cart that we use to go to the beach. Flat roads, but its just slow. I did the full deal on my ez-go a couple years ago 48 conversion with cables, controller solenoid etc, but they aren't wanting to go that far yet Was hoping maybe a motor swap and maybe cables would at least help for now, |
