You said smoke was coming out of your controller, and now know your motor's shot. I'd recommend deciding what you want out of your cart, then give ScottyB a call for recommended upgrades. Do you drive only on paved roads, some off-road, all off-road? Do you have steep hills, or mainly flat? What is the heaviest load - yourself, or three additional passengers and their weight? I forget, but if you are at 36 volts, do you see moving to 48 volts when it's time to replace your batteries?

can help you before calling.

I now see in your sig that you have already upgraded everything. I'd still give ScottyB a call for a motor rewind or replacement recommendation, based on your intended use.

Does it appear that the armature and field coils made contact while running before it seized up? Shiny metal laminations?

Can the motor be sent off to Plum Quick? Or is it too messed up?

Depends on whether the rotor laminations hit the stator laminations. If so, I doubt it can be fixed, as the laminations are individually coated, to reduce eddy currents. If that has been rubbed off, it effectively "short circuits" the laminations together.

If not, call them and maybe send them a picture or two.
