Default 2003 TXT PDS oil leak rear differential

I just inherited a 2003 TXT 36v PDS cart. While looking over the cart i noticed a good amount of oil residue on the rear differential and motor. I don't have any manuals or parts list, but I'm assuming i have a faulty gasket or seal where the motor mounts to the differential. Does anyone know the part number for that seal? Also what type of oil do I need to refill differential? ThanksIMG_4132.JPGAttachment 1

Hello welcome to BGW, I'm currently fixing the same problem on my 1998 TXT
What I found searching this site which by the way is full of amazing information is the imput shaft sealed bearing is leaking. Also on mine oil on the brlakes.

Input shaft Bearing towards the motor 6005RKI
Input shaft Bearing away from motor 6203
Axle Bearing kit 611931 or just the bearing 6004LL
Oring 93210-478B8

Not sure these are the same for your 03 hopefully one of the experts will confirm for us.

My diff dosn't have a vent so I am going to add one

You can download the manuals here: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...g-manuals.html

EZGO installed SAE-30 motor oil in the differential at the factory. I prefer to use gear oil to lubricate gears, so I use synthetic 75W-90 gear oil, which has roughly the same viscosity.

There is a O ring in the case, where the bearing slides in on the motor side. To stop the oil from leaking

The manual states to either remove the cover or siphon the oil out?
If this is first time working on the rear end safe to assume better to remove cover so you can inspect all around. Any thing specific to look for that could be a warning sign to future issues?

Is there a gasket that needs to be purchased to replace when installing cover back on?
Also technique/tools to fill the synthetic oil back in? I've never done this

Permatex ultra black is recommended these days by some. (no gasket)

If you look under the cart while it is on level ground you will see the diff is leaning forward somewhat. If you raise the front of the cart a little higher than the back it will be easier to reinstall the diff pan with oil in it and not spill.

My owners manual states 30wt motor oil. Some people prefer gear oil. Also synthetics. 80-90 wt gear oil is the same viscosity as 30wt motor oil. It needs to splash up to the top gears so you don't want it too thick.

Actually, the oil climbs the gears rather than being splashed.

Rather than doing the balancing act of filling the pan before installing it, I install it empty and use a pump to add the oil after it is bolted in place.

I use something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Plews-55001-L...rds=fluid+pump and pump until the oil starts coming out of the hole.
