500amp: not satisfied!
2003 Ezgo
48 volt with 2awg cable, solenoid and 500amp alltrax Stock 36volt motor, 3 month old Trojan battery pack The cart did great around the neighborhood but took it out to my property and the very first "mud hole" I went through I was stuck. With the peddle to the floor the cart tires wouldn't even turn fast enough to sling water or mud.....I have 23" tires on 14" rims so not much added weight at all with the little bit of mud in the tires. Is a torque motor really going to give me what I want? Or should I just go ahead and scrap all of this for a MUCH larger controller? Keep in mind this was with just me....no hunting buddies on board, coolers, or hauling anything. Thanks! |

I get it that it's not ATV and I don't need positive traction or to be able to go through mud at all times but I do need wheel spin.

Re: 500amp: not satisfied!
For what you want it to do, the combo is wrong.
Controller, wiring etc is only a minor gain in torque. |

Re: 500amp: not satisfied!
I got a D&D torque motor, mind you it is a sepex and a [Curtis] 500amp controller and it will sling mud from both tires [23" mudlites], NO problem.

Re: 500amp: not satisfied!
I should clarify that I haven't found a hill yet that I couldn't climb even with 4 people on board. And then I got in some very very slick mud and I couldn't spin tire almost like I was on a governor...which resulted in me getting stuck. So I'm basically lacking a torque motor. I see these guys with 500amp in the signatures with a "torque motor" and riding wheelies. If that's the case with that increase in torque I'm ordering tomorrow.

Re: 500amp: not satisfied!
During the week the cart is ridden around the neighborhood...on the weekends it's used on my property. I don't need any speed over 25mph....I need every bit of torque I can get! All of it

Re: 500amp: not satisfied!
I just want 25mph, and mud flinging torque. They might be a tough match to make.
