03 club car ds driver side rear hub hot
Hi, first post here. I picked up an 03’ club car ds with the IQ GE motor. This is a factory 6 seater. I drove it a mile today then went to put air in the tires. The drivers side rear rim is hot. None of the other wheels had any considerable heat at all. Even 10 minutes after stopping it is still hot to the touch. Does this have replaceable rear hubs or anything I should look for? Not really sure where to start? Thanks

Sounds like you have a brake shoe sticking or something else rubbing inside the drum.
Take the drum off and look inside. |

Thanks, is there a diagram somewhere? Any special tools for removing?

No it’s just a drum brake. But lift it and try to spin the tire if you can spin it freely then you have no issue. But I’m calling it’s a brake or bearing.

Try pushing the cart first. You should be able to push it easy on a flat level surface. If not them remove the drum and see what's going on.

Re: 03 club car ds driver side rear hub hot
Thank you all very much. I worked on it yesterday. It was the brakes. The driver side drum cover was hard to pull off because they were so tight. I removed the cover, removed the lower spring holding the pads, then screwed in # 11 on the diagram to retract the brakes in a bit. All smooth now and no heat after driving. Next project is to rebuild the brakes but waiting on that until I do the lift kit. Again thank you for the info.

Consider a disc brake upgrade when you do.... They are a great upgrade and makes for a lot better braking (~35% better)
