Issues with controller install
I just made up the last two cables to go to 48 volts. When I went to put the neutral wire on the last battery, it sparked pretty good. Did not blow the fuse. The fuse is in line in that cable. I had ran the cart earlier today at 36 volts and have had no issues with it. (On A side note- I could not detect any more torque with the new Alltraxx 4844 over the stock controller; it still slows down on the same hills as the stock controller. ??) I rechecked that my batteries were wired in correct sequence-pos-neg-pos-neg, ect. All seems correct. The only thing I can think that may have happening is that when I programmed the Alltrax is that I set the over voltage at about 40 volts. I did this about two weeks ago. Could this be the issue? I have not had a chance to call Alltrax to figure out my problem. Just thougt I would run it past you guys ( and Girls, too) to see if anyone can tell me what I did wrong. I do not have a lap top at home to troubleshoot it, If needed I will remove the controller and check it out. Sorry for the long post. Need help in Texas.

Re: Issues with controller install
That overvoltage is a saftey valve and souldn't be a limiting factor . What voltage are you on now?

Re: Issues with controller install
Prior to trying to make the final connection, I measured 50.7 volts. This was across the batteries, from one end to the other.

Re: Issues with controller install
Also, I had not changed the position of 36 volt chargeing wires yet. I do not think this would matter. I will call Alltrax today and see if they can help.

Re: Issues with controller install
So I take it you have added two 6v and have a total of eight 6v batteries...50.7 is a full charge .... Maybe the voltage limiter is doing just that? I'm sorry I don't know? Let us know what Alltrax says. Let us know if the voltage limit setting will actually limit your in/output to 40 volts where you said you set it?

Re: Issues with controller install
Here is what Alltrax said:
Craig, That was the capacitors in the controller charging up. I would recommend removing the precharge resistor off the solenoid, hooking up the negative, then reinstalling the resistor. Or you can just throw it on there, it will spark once then bolt it down. Regards, Richard Csuk Customer/Technical Service Manager Alltrax Inc 541-476-3565 |
