1975 36V Club Car Wont Charge
I just got this golf cart yesterday. The cart moves but it is slow because the batteries are almost dead. Batteries are less than a year old and all have voltages between 5.8V and 6.0V. I got a good deal on it because the previous owner couldn't figure out how to charge it. It came with a Lestronic II charger. I replaced a blown charging receptacle fuse and when I plugged in the charger, big sparks flew and the fuse burnt out. The charger shows no signs of life with no relay clicks or humming. Plugged into the wall or not, as soon as i touch the charger prongs to the charging receptacle, green sparks fly and the fuse blows. Ive checked everywhere for bad wires or improper grounds but everything looks good on the cart. I think its the charger but i'm not completely sure. Is there a way to test the charger? Im trying to manually charge the batteries with my car charger and ts taking an abnormal amount of time.

Sounds like there is an internal short inside the charger. The wiring on the cart is easy to check, you should just have a positive and negative wire going to the mains on the pack. An automotive charger will work in the meantime until you sort things out.
