muffler modification/change out
hi guys i am looking for some information on a muffler change out.
i have a 1984 gas club car and have removed the muffler due to the blowing noise i had and the loss of power - i have found that there were bees living in the muffler at some point and the build up of rust etc was slowing things down. Without the muffler it is obviously very noisy but runs GREAT! The question is - has anyone ever used a motorcycle muffler modified to fit a gasser? and does the muffler serve any back pressure purpose, or is it strictly for noise? Another question is if that is not a good solution than what else is? I am not really wanting to part ways with a couple hundred dollars for a new Club Car part if y'all know what i mean... Thanks again!! |

Re: muffler modification/change out
thanks for the reply
i actually wound up cutting the muffler in half only to find insides all rusted out along with bees, and mud etc... I found a muffler from some kind of small motor and with some fancy fab work i now have a new muffler. - the price $20! (+3 hrs of my time and a six pack) it is a little noisy but what can you do, the price was right. thanks again for the response Cheers |

Hey what you gonna do with that old muffler? Got any pics of it? I am thinking of trying to repack my muffler on my 90 like we used to do with motorcycles.

Re: muffler modification/change out
Can you take some pics of the inside of it? It will help me decide what to do with mine. Mine is loud but Id like to see the inside to see if I can repack it for quietness

Thats a sledhead slang name for the little resonators(mufflers) that you see
2 of sticking out the back of old VW beetles. They are very good at taking the crackle note off an exhaust system. http://www.jcwhitney.com/chrome-exha...uestid=8750819 |
