Default Stripped Gears

I purchased a 1996 Yamaha G14 that was not running and the coupler and gear between the motor and rear end are both stripped. I do not even understand how this could happen? Can the female portion on the motor be removed or is it part of the armature?

This usually happens when someone goes from reverse to forward or vice versa without letting the cart come to a stop or from the cart being overloaded. There is a separate part number for that female portion on my diagram suggesting it can be replaced without replacing entire motor.

I have replaced the female end on Ezgo and Hyundai armatures before but not Yamaha, but must say, haven't seen many damaged. The part # for the input shaft is JH7-G6321-00-00 (suggested retail is 167.50 ouch). Do you have the part number for the female coupler? I couldn't find it.

That input shaft will most likely work fine with a new motor coupling. I know the coupling is sometimes a booger to remove ( working on EZGO )
I cut two opposing slots with an angle grinder and use a good jaw puller to remove the coupling. Put something over the armature to protect the windings in case you slip! Put some chassis grease on the new coupling when you install it.

I did not see a part number for female end but was going to send to PlumQuick to have them do the motor and fix the gear.

any motor rebuilder can replace just the female coupler, the input shaft will need replacing too. number one cause of this problem, notice that you did not find any grease on either of your parts, always grease the coupler and input shaft whenever you have them apart to prevent rust and avoid this problem. sometimes too little or no grease is used during assembly.
