Battery size/cca
What size batteries are you guys running your you gas carts? I think the one in mine is too small. Only after a couple starts and it will have problems turning it over. It's only 440 CCA.

Re: Battery size/cca
Check the wires and gen output. I ran my G9 on a jumper pack with a tiny gel battery in it for most of a summer. My new battery is a marine/rv unit that is 600cca and it is way more than the cart needs, but should last many years. In the past I used the cheapest car battery I could find, the generic size around 500cca I think....they worked fine. Bigger one just lasts longer, is better when you jump something else with it, etc. I have jumped cars with my cart, boats as well.

Re: Battery size/cca
I used the largest battery that would fit. Same battery thats in my diesel, 800+ CCA. That gives me a spare, if I need a battery in one of my other cars.

Re: Battery size/cca
Like MAC says, get the biggest battery that fits. Measure your battery tray. I use 70 and sometimes 75 series batteries in the gas carts.

Re: Battery size/cca
The battery clamps and cables, both ends. All wires on the gen, the field wires to the VR on the wheel well, its wires, any ground wires. All grounds are wired. Fuses positive and negative. Easy way to tell is put a volt meter on the battery any $5 DVOM meter will work. It should be around 12-12.5 for a charged battery. Start it up and it should go up to maybe 14v when you rev it up like you were at a good speed (in neutral or jacked up). If it goes up it is charging and you are using up more than the 15a it charges at higher rpm, or your battery is junk, or you have a connection problem in the cables to battery for starting that limits power, or the gen brushes/bearings are bad limiting its output. Note if you use a lot of lights/accessories and drive around really slow (low rpm) it will not charge enough to keep battery up. Is also a good idea to set the engine to idle just over the gen starting rpm, that way nobody can drive the cart on the starter and kill the battery.
