Default 1995 club car carryall- gas

Hello all.
i recently replaced my bad starter/generator (was eating brushes) with a new one I bought online. Installation was pretty straightforward. My issue now is after running the cart for a few minutes, the cart is burning the brake lines! as in the plastic coating on them, and forcing the brakes locked.
What could be causing this problem, and how can i test further?

My thoughts are that the new s/g is bad, or maybe i need a new solenoid or something.

With the replacement s/g cart starts and runs fine except for this burning brake line.

How can i test the s/g or troubleshoot further? Any thoughts? has anyone seen this issue before?

Thanks

Welcome to BGW

you have a bad ground somewhere and the brake are acting as the ground. The ground from the battery to the motor? ground from battery to frame?, ground from starter/gen to the battery? make sure all grounds are clean to the metal on all connections

Your engine cradle is not grounded. Also check your voltage regulator to make sure it's not going over 16 volts. This will eat brushes.

thanks for the response
:D

that was my first thought too. I've already (pre-posting) gone thru and cleaned all grounds to bare metal.
I will go thru them all again, but assuming its not the grounds what else could be causing this?
