Default 36 volt txt series put 6 8 volt batteries by mistake what did I foobar

My elderly neighbor has a 36 volt txt series i think looking the pic and wiring diagrams. He lives on a limited budget. He put 6 8 volt batteries in the cart he told something smoked . A year later he ask me if i could fix his cart. This cart is a little different than the wiring in the sticky.

the diagram in the sticky has 6 numbered terminals. this one has 3 with an extra on the other side.

speed control 1( red) goes to the solenoid
speed control 2 and 3 (black and white ) go to the pedal box
the orange wire on the other side goes to ms4

all the other wires on the speed control seems to go where diagrams says

thanks for looking Ken

yes sir the 6 volt batteries was bad anyway that is the reason he was replacing them and got 8 volt batteries by mistake. i told him would help put the batteries in but him and buddies of his did it . he waited a year cause he was embarrassed to tell me what he did. i cant put a lot of money in it. so what do you think got smoked.

and do you have any idea what i have.
is it a txt series 1999 model ?

you posted the diagram i was referring to

thanks in advance

Ken

i have a old marathon 36 volt cart the controllers are similar but not the same.
but i dont even know if the controller is bad yet
i still have to get batteries.

my thought was to test it with 3 12 volt batteries that i can throw in just to see if anything works.

bless his heart he was a NASA scientist and now he is doing things that i know he knows better. he put his mower blade on upside and gave me the mower because it was a POS. i fixed the blade and mowed his grass with it and gave it back to him

anyway if yall can give me some debugging help. that would be great

That is basically a workhorse 1000 or 1200 because of the long body. Like Scotty said new 8 volts are probably dead because they have been sitting so long. The good news is that the controller in that cart could be a 24-48 volt because it looks like the 400 amp version. Pull it out and look at the label on the other end. Solenoid is probably fried but other than that the rest should be okay unless it has a state of charge meter.

Again, pull the controller first and look at the voltage range.
