Default 36v staying powered up

I have a 36v club car that is staying powered up when in forward and back. It has the old style box with the micro-switches and I replaced one that was obviously bad, but it is still doing it. I have to put it in neutral to keep it from moving. This is not safe and it will surely burn up my forward/reverse selector with all the arcing it does when I move the switch. I looked through the forums, but did not see anything on this problem that I noticed. I can't put the year model on here, because it is a conversion from a 48v back to the old 36v style. The short story is I work at a plant and made a cart out of a couple of junked models. It has been fine for a couple of years now, until this.
Thanks for any direction.

bad soleniod, it sounds as if the soleniod is staying engaged................they don,t go bad that way often but they do go bad that way.....its either that or the micro switch is keeping it engaged.........................

thanks....it probably would not hurt to get a spare soleniod and change it out. May be trial and error till I find the right one. It is not taking off like its getting all 36v when left in gear. The other micro-switches appeared and sounded good (not saying one is not bad). Thanks for the tip and I will post back what I find.

You didnt say what year, model cart you have so 4 Solenoids sounds like the main power feed one is missing? Often owners do this to save money, BUT there must be one with INTERNAL CONTACTS STUCK IN CLOSED POSITION? Usually there are 5 solenoids unless its a Caroche cart with 3 pedal, one accelerator, 2 brakes?
Normal resistor-solenoid function is solenoid nearest drivers side is main power feed, the other 4 from drivers side to passenger side are for speed controls.

Silly question only because I just ran into this.... Is the spring that returns the accelerator in tact or strong enough to return the pedal? I have seen some where the spring has failed and is not strong enough to raise the accelerator pedal.

Is that the spring on the 48v cart or the spring on the 36v cart

Yeah there are 5 soleniods but the first one is bypassed. I stated in earlier post that this cart was put together from a couple of older carts that had been scrapped.

I checked the spring when I replaced the micro switch and it seemed ok
