So it looks like i have to complete some kind of internal circuit by connecting those two wires before it will provide spark. I’ll order the pull start wire harness for the coil from NR Racing since I’d never guess which two prongs in the plug are the red and the black wires.

You found it. I knew Shepard had figured out how to make it work. By the diagram connecting the black and red wires completes the coil circuit.
