Motor swap?
hey guys, first of all great site, very helpful. the only problem is youve got my need for speed going. ive got a 96 36v club car and an 01 48v club car. after reading some of the posts ive been thinking of swaping the motors. what are the pros an cons of doing so? thanks in advance.

Re: Motor swap?
I should also add that im going to keep the 01 cart for sure. Is their anything to benifit from me putting the older 36v motor in this newer cart. an will the 96 cart still be functional with the 48v motor (so i can sell it).

Re: Motor swap?
Is the 01 a series cart? i am thinking the 96 is so you need apples for apples in the motors meaning they both need to be series carts. you take the 36v from the 96 and put it in the 01 assuming it is a series and the 96 cart will need a new 36v motor. the 48v won't perform very well if at all in a 36v cart, but a 36v in a 48v will give you more torque and speed right away with no problems.

Re: Motor swap?
Best bet would be to sell the 96 and use the money for a new motor upgrade and other accessories for your 01.Unless the 96 is in really bad shape, then take out the motor use it in your 01 and part out the 96 or sell as is.

Re: Motor swap?
they both are series, the 96 is a v glide. for some reason we just raced the two carts and the 96 is a lot faster than the 48v. what would cause this? thanks for you addvice. the 96 is in good shape so prob just sell it like you said.

Re: Motor swap?
There could be several factors as to why the 96 is faster. I suspect the batteries are in better condition is probably why you have a faster 96 36v cart. The two are probably about equal in speed if both had batteries in perfect working order on flat ground, the difference would be in hill climbing. I think selling the 96 and upgrading your 01 is the way to go.Batts, cables, motor, lift and all your other bling bling stuff.goodluck
