The reducer did not have a blue wire. Just a red and black In and a yellow and black Out. very simply labeled.

Sorry Joel for hijacking your thread. Your situation is much like what I was hoping to avoid as I realize how easily it can happen. With the help of the other members here, I found a good solution to those of us looking to wire up a cart without having to spend a ton for lights/reducers. Tecscan has a nice light set for $70 and a reducer for $30. The reviews I've seen are very positive.
