Default 350 pre mci rebuild

I’m rebuilding a 350 pre mci and putting on a 295 head. My 350 crank is damaged a bit too much from spun rod.
My question is, can I use a 295 crank in the 350?

The cranks aren't the same as I recall.

Rooster59 is correct. Different cranks. Wish they were the same because I got four 295's that are perfect. The 350's are made of gold

Are you sure your crank is toast??

Parts of the aluminum rod will weld themselves to the crank, will look like the crank is tore up buts is aluminum on top of the steel crank.

On mine I used a little heat to start to peel off the aluminum, then 800 grit sand paper, then machine buffed with 2 different compounds. The crank I thought was toast came out in spec after clean up.

Crank cleaned up well. It was aluminum from the rod.

After rebuild with 295 head it ran like a dream, then out of nowhere had large amounts of smoke. So I pulled the engine and tore it down to find that both compression rings and one of the oil rings had rotated and perfectly aligned themselves in one of the cylinders.
What are the odds?

I've had that happen before too. Not common, but it can happen. Run a hone quick through the cylinder and reset the rings, should be fine.

Off of eBay. It was like $243 without rods. Or $295 with new rods.
