Default 2005 EZGO ST Controller

Best I can tell this is a 2005 EZGO ST 36v series drive. This was a freebie. No batteries, no controller, looks to be missing some components on the forward/reserve switch. No idea if the motor works (assuming it is toast). Battery trays are rusted out.

Have never owned a golf cart before. Trying to figure out where to start... Any idea what controller I need for this cart? Also, what are some decent batteries? Thanks for any help.

You can verify what year it is by looking at the tag in passenger glove compartment, their is a serial number and a code number, last two numbers on code is your year. I'm new to this site but you can test motor with 12 volts off two of the lugs with wheels raised just to see if it turns, their is a link showing what lugs and the preferred method is with a on/off switch on wire lead. Its hard to tell in your pics but it looks like you have a controller, its the black box with four lugs on it and small wiring coming out of top. The forward/reverse switch should have two micro switches on it for forward and reverse , don't see a picture of this. Their is a link on this site that explains batteries brands. power and ratings. Hope this helps.

Main part of the FnR is there. Rotary switch with the rod going to it. Can’t tell from the picture what else is there.

Get a DVM and set it for continuity (beep) and go from A1 to A2, and S1 to S2 and see if you get a beep. Usually if you do you got a good motor.
