Need some advise about a radio installation
Ok.... I am a first time poster to this forum so thanks in advance for any help. I am about to install a new radio in my 2005 EZGO PDS. I am looking at a couple of options and want some advise on mounting. I would really like to install the radio in the instruction panel just above the drink holder. Has anyone done this before? If so, was it strong enough to support the radio? Did it require any addional bracing to hold the radio secure? Does the radio skip with it there (I have a nice Sony marine grade receiver, so I hope not)?
I also want to turn my ball holder into a switch panel for my other 12v asso. What is everyones opinion on what to use as a plate to cover the hole up? Thanks again for the help!!! |

The dust will jam your CD player in a short time.
I use the Dash over lay to mount the CD Players that way the are not subject to all the dust that is trapped up under the cowl. Look at the photos I posted of EZ-GO body removal at the BU EZ-Go Electric forum and you will see how much dirt will get get trapped in there. |

Re: Need some advise about a radio installation
Hows it going, I just found this greet site today! Even if your cart is for off road there are ways to keep your cd dirt free. I do car audio and have done many carts and rhinos for off road and on. There are many cd players that have a flip down face that hides the cd slot. it does not keep it 100% dust free but you can glue a piece of felt on the back of the face to make it close. There are also marine covers and billet aluminum ones that work very well. As for skipping, they very seldom skip. They delay play to avoid skipping. I put one in a buddies rhino and it rolled without skipping. just make sure it has a solid mount. I use Kenwood Excelon, you can get one with ipod control for around $200. Some brands are better than others but any will work. Another option is to do an amp to your speakers and run direct to an Ipod. As for your switches etc. abs plastic or alum. plate are easy to work with. Good luck with your project and sorry for the long reply.
