Hi ridewraps sounds like the carb may need cleaned or fuel filter dirty or both

Re: Low Speed "LURCHING" not smoooooth
Cleaned carb and now it starts easier... But it still feels "jumpy" if I hold my foot on the pedal at a S L O W speed it kind of surges, higher speed it is fine...... any ideas?

Re: Low Speed "LURCHING" not smoooooth
You are somewhat correct, mostly actually.
There should be a spring between the cable stop and the throttle lever on the accelerator cable. This spring needs to be compressed with your foot OFF the accelerator pedal so that when you begin to push the accelerator pedal you flip the microswitch and start to turn the motor over but haven't begun to open the throttle. Once you have pushed the throttle roughly a 1/2 inch the throttle will begin to open and the engine will start. This wil fix your low speed lurching because what is actually happening is you are turning the cart on and off because you are trying to run with very little pedal but are too close to the begining of the throttle travel therefore you are right on top of the microswitch. I have 2 that had the same problem but once they were properly adjusted they can run all day at low speed with no problem. Hope this helps, if not let me know and I can offer somemore insight. |
